About Troy

Troy Pickard has been involved in Local Government since 2001 and in the past seven years has made significant contributions as an Elected Member in two of Western Australia’s largest Local Government Authorities - the City of Stirling, as a Councillor and Deputy Mayor, and now the City of Joondalup where he has held the position of Mayor since 2006. 

From a young age, has always held an interest in local communities and all its associated intricacies, driven by a passion to make a positive contribution to people’s lives.

To complement his Business Degree in marketing at ECU, Troy Pickard completed his Masters Degree at UWA in 2006.

Strategic marketing, distribution and channel management, international business and brand strategy are his areas of expertise through his  professional work with numerous large national and international companies.

He has received a number of decorations and awards throughout his career including a Distinguished Service Award from WALGA in 2005 and a 40 Under 40 Award in 2002 and 2007.

Troy Pickard was elected WALGA Deputy President in 2007, is a current board member of the Australia Local Government Association and was appointed to the Australian Council of Local Government in 2008.
